Deep upper back pain on the left side around C7 without arm tingling but shoulder blade pain as well
Are there changes in the uncinate processes and IVFs?
Hello, For 3 months now I have been suffering from pain around C7, located on the left side. This whole area is also very painful to the touch itself. Most of the time the pain would extend even lower between my spine and left shoulder blade as well.
An MRI only showed very minor protusions of 3 discs between C2-C3, C4-C5 and C6-C7 and a loss of the natural cervical lordosis. And no nerve irritation.
I do not have any tingling or pain in the left arm, and no one can tell what could be the root of this pain.
Despite several physiotherapy and ostheopath sessions there is no relief and the pain is actually getting worse.
Many thanks for your help!!
Hello Danielle,
It's an area that is very complex and frankly to diagnose, and treat. The loss of the lordosis in my book is very significant; there's almost always pain; you've had a whiplash type injury in the past.
The dorsal scapula nerve from C5 is quite often the spoke in the wheel; right where you have small disc protrusions.
Does turning your head to the left and then looking up cause any problems? This is called Spurling's test; when it immediately radiates down the arm it's particularly significant.
You've been to osteopaths and physios; is it perhaps time to consult a chiropractor? Take your x-rays and scans.
Let me know how you get on.
