THIS ILNESS IS HORRIBLE, THE PAIN, THE BURNING THE ANTS WALKING UNDER YOUR SKIN, IS VERY PAINFUL AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN PUT SOME ICE OVER THE AREA CAN HELP. THANK YOU
Hello Martha,
Now that's an interesting question and I give a guarded "yes". But it depends in part on how long you've had the pain.
First, recognise that this is a referred pain in your leg. The actual problem isn't in your leg but in the groin and mid-upper lumbar spine.
Secondly, we need to be really sure this is MP. Because if it's the Femoral nerve that's effected, then you may develop motor signs, in particular your knee may start to give, on stairs for example.
"I can't do anything about it." Wrong! Now, I will say this is a challenging problem, but it's one that I as a chiropractor really enjoy. Because I usually win. But for twenty-five years I had little idea what MP was, nor how to treat it. So, before making an appointment, find out if the chiropractor you've chosen knows what MP is, and how to treat it.
S/He may be as vague as I was ten years ago.
The treatment in the groin is both awkward and painful. Take a friend/ partner with you.
Find a good chiropractor may be your next step.
